Social 10 Honors
Instructor: Mr. McLean
Global History and Geography 10 Honors will cover the same time period, the age of absolutism to the modern era, as the regents classes.  There will be more independent, project and research based work involved in the honors classes.  It is for students who are motivated to do well and can work both independently, and as part of a group.
Welcome to Global Studies 10.  This is the second year of a two year course in world history and geography.  There will be a regents exam at the end of the year.  If we work together, you can all be successful in this class.  We will be covering the periods from the era of Absolute Monarchs to the Modern Era.  As an honors class, I am expecting you to be more self motivated to do well.  There will be more independent and project work that will require you to be well organized and to not wait until the last minute to begin your work.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."  Nelson Mandela

"Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation" Robert F. Kennedy

"We owe respect to the living; to the dead we owe only truth"  Voltaire

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last"  Winston Churchill

"America is not anything if consists of each of us.  It is something only if it consists of all of us"  Woodrow Wilson

"Satisfaction lies in the effort, not the attainment.  Full effort is Full victory."  Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.  If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality."  Bishop Desmond Tutu

"Judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement" Simon Bolivar

"Ability is nothing without Opportunity." Napoleon Bonaparte
